Nauset Jewelry’s first exhibit in the new gallery is now open! Featuring unique pieces crafted by Independent Study students, this collection was created to support WildCare in Eastham. WildCare is dedicated to helping sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife through rehabilitation, reducing human impacts on animals through educational outreach, and promoting conservation to protect species and their ecosystems. Each jewelry piece is inspired by an animal WildCare cares for, and every item will be available for purchase at the Bird Watcher’s General Store. All proceeds will go directly to WildCare to aid in wildlife rehabilitation. Stop by to admire the talent of these students—and if you find a piece you love, visit the General Store in a few weeks to make it yours while supporting a wonderful cause!

Nauset Volleyball wraps up an outstanding season tonight at 6pm with their Senior Night game against rival Falmouth. Though the team didn’t secure a spot in the postseason due to their record and power rankings, this year has still been remarkable. The team surpassed expectations, setting new program records, including beating Nantucket for the first time in years and taking a set from second-ranked DY. On Monday, October 21, the team hosted their fourth annual Dig Pink fundraiser game, supporting the Side-Out Foundation, which raises funds to assist those with metastatic breast cancer. The event featured a bake sale, raffles, and other fundraising activities. They are just $200 shy of their $2,500 goal, with donations still open at https://side-out.org. Tonight’s game will also feature baked goods and concessions, with all proceeds going toward Dig Pink. Senior captains Olivia Richards and Adrianna Morgan credit the team’s strong bond as a key factor in their success. They highlighted how the team spent the summer preparing, participating in a summer league and holding frequent outdoor practices, and how they continue to spend time together off the court during the season. “Volleyball requires a lot of trust,” Morgan explains. “It helps to have a team that truly supports one another.” Richards agrees, adding, “As a setter, it’s crucial that I can communicate well with my hitters, and spending time together outside of volleyball definitely strengthens that connection.” Another boost to the team’s performance has been the new gym, providing them with a stable home-court advantage. Although there were early challenges with the gym being unfinished and morning practices due to limited court space, the new facility has contributed to their higher win percentage at home. If you haven’t caught a Nauset Volleyball game in the new gym, tonight is your chance to support the seven seniors and the rest of the team in their final game of the season at 6 p.m. Go Warriors!

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Nauset’s Cross Country team. Both the boys and girls currently hold 2-2 records and are looking to secure a win in their final dual meet to end the regular season with a winning record. Although only one league meet remains, the season is far from over. For those who have qualified, they still have the Cape and Island Championships and States ahead of them. One of the most anticipated events is the Twilight Meet. Senior captain Maddy Mahoney describes it as a season highlight. Held at night at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds, the runners race under the stars, with their path lit by lights. Mahoney emphasizes the unique energy of the meet, where lights and music create a vibrant atmosphere unlike any other event. The team captains had nothing but praise for their squad, particularly after their performance in the coed cross-country relay, where three teams placed impressively, with one team earning a top-10 medal. Nauset’s Cross Country team has a special dynamic, bringing the boys’ and girls’ teams together in a way that’s rare. While most schools have separate coaches and programs for each gender, Nauset trains under one coach, with the only separation occurring during gender-specific meets. The athletes thrive when they race together, regardless of whether their scores are combined. Senior captain Brad Hagopian notes how much the team “really supports each other.” Although each runner competes individually, their scores are tallied as a team, and everyone cheers each other on, whether they’re leading the pack or finishing last. The team’s close-knit nature fosters a true sense of teamwork. Mahoney adds that in Cross Country, it’s easy to focus on your own performance, but it’s important to remember that “we’re all in it together.” We’re cheering for this incredible team in their upcoming meets—go Warriors!
