Nauset High School’s Green Club recently received the Youth Stewardship Award from CARE for the Cape and Islands. CARE is an environmental organization dedicated to inspiring residents and visitors to protect the Cape’s natural landscapes and wildlife. The Green Club has partnered with CARE’s founder on a notable sustainability initiative, successfully replacing single-use plastic silverware in the school’s new cafeteria with reusable metal alternatives. This collaboration gave CARE deeper insight into the Green Club’s impactful work within the Nauset community. In recognition of their efforts in promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship, CARE honored the club with the award during a reception following the Take Care Cape Cod Summit. Additionally, club members were granted memberships with Cape Cod Young Professionals. Congratulations to the Green Club—Go Warriors, and go Green!

The sounds of construction you’ve been hearing are a clear sign of progress! This ambitious project is moving forward thanks to the collaboration of more than 25 specialized contracting teams, including experts in demolition, structural foundations, electrical work, and more. Unlike the first phase, where entirely new buildings were constructed, this second phase integrates parts of the original school’s existing structures. This innovative approach not only speeds up the timeline but also makes the project more resource-efficient. Precision demolition techniques are being used to carefully preserve the remaining structures while clearing space for the new ones—a process that showcases the skill and expertise of the contractors. The team is also overcoming challenges like needing to navigate pipes and concrete around unexpected tunnels in the original foundation. These obstacles are opportunities for creative problem-solving and collaboration across multiple specialties. This project is an exciting blend of physical construction, thoughtful planning, and teamwork, and it’s a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of everyone involved. Each step brings us closer to a revitalized space that will serve the community for years to come.
