• WELCOME TO THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM WEBSITE

The International  Student Coordinator at Nauset High School is Kathy MacDonald,

    508/255-1505, X5251.

In 2011 Nauset High School applied for and received an I-17 government clearance to begin the program for receiving international F-1 visa students into our school.  We partner with Educatius International, 50 Congress Street in Boston, who researches the applications and presents them to Nauset High School as potential students.   The company offers students the possibility to choose the actual school district they will attend.  Students enjoy full access to sports, clubs and academics in the schools, including the possibility of obtaining a high school diploma.  They are very interested in learning more about American culture. The students are charged tuition to attend and are enrolled as full time students.

Students stay with a host family in the local community.  Host families are paid a monthly stipend to offset the costs of welcoming an international student into their home.  The students are provided a private room, three meals a day and a supportive home environment. There is access to a local residential coordinator who initially places all the students and is a constant presence during the school year.   We are continuously seeking out caring families who would be willing to open their home to an international student.  You may host up to two students for one or two semesters.

If you are interested in becoming a host family with Educatius International, please contact local coordinator  Jennifer Rako  at jsr@jenniferrako.com or Educatius International directly to rebecca.hohlenwerger@educatius.org or call Rebecca Hohlenwerger at 800-301-6014.

We began the program in the 2012-13 school year with the acceptance of six students: two from France, three from China and one from Belgium.  Two of these students graduated and went on to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.

In the 2013-2014 school year we hosted eleven students, three from China, four from Brazil, one from Germany,  two  from Italy and one from Monaco.  One student is now attending Purdue University.

The 2014-2015 school year brought us seventeen students: eight from China, two from Brazil, two from France, three from Spain, one from Norway and one from Germany.

School year (2015-16) gave us 17 students from China, Germany, Brazil, Spain and Norway. They had an excellent year with eight students receiving diplomas.

Last school year (2016-17) we welcomed five students from China and Brazil. This year (2017-18) we again have five students from China, Indonesia, Germany and Austria.

When asked about their experiences here the students have commented that everyone is so helpful and genuinely interested in them.  We have had students join the football team, row crew,  play volleyball, wrestle and cheerlead.  One Chinese student remarked that our kids were so smart!

If necessary our students are offered ESL classes as part of their curriculum.  We now have a Mandarin Chinese course at the high school.
