• Remote Learning Protocols

Students in remote learning should follow all protocols of expected behavior to include, being on time for all classes, having their camera on at all times of instruction and actively participating in the lesson. We respectively ask that students’ cell phones are not available during class time. In addition, we ask that you adhere to the following protocols:

    • Students will not use cell phones during synchronous sessions.
    • All student cameras must be enabled and students must be visible to the instructor.
    • Students will not utilize distracting backgrounds. Blank backgrounds or backgrounds of the environment in which the student is engaged in Remote Learning are acceptable.

    • Students will not be allowed to change their screen names.
    • Comments and responses will be provided verbally unless otherwise provided for by the teacher.

    • Multi-tasking will be prohibited; students should be attentive to synchronous sessions at all times, just as when school is in normal operation.
    • Students should be attentive and seated upright as they would be during class held during normal operations. Workspaces should be set up in an appropriate location in the house that is free from distractions.
    • If unable to find a quiet location, students will use headphones to reduce noise level at their workspaces.
    • Students will be dressed appropriately according to the student handbook.
    • Students will not disguise their faces.

The form will be submitted to the local counseling staff. Upon receipt, a dialog between the teacher and counseling staff will produce a set of protocols together with a timeline for their lapsing or reevaluation, so that the teacher can ensure the student’s SEL needs are met. This will be known as an “SEL Plan.”
    • All work products will be graded as during normal school operations, except as altered by the establishment of an SEL Plan, IEP, 504, or similar arrangement.
    • Students will not record or screenshot synchronous learning sessions.

The school district shall inform parents/caregivers of these expectations.
