The technology and engineering education class at Nauset Regional Middle School is offered to all seventh and eighth grade students in the Unified Arts schedule rotation. The objectives for this class are adopted directly from the learning standards set forth by the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Framework.
Students are ultimately tested on these learning standards during the Grade 8 MCAS Science and Technology/Engineering test. The test items that are directly related to the technology/engineering learning standards have typically comprised 25% of the MCAS Grade 8 Science and Technology/ Engineering test.
These technology and engineering learning standards are beyond the scope of the regular science classes, in which the Earth, life, and physical science learning standards are presented.
The Nauset technology and engineering middle school curriculum was developed to provide students the opportunity to master each of the state standards.
