Brewster Elementary Schools Building Merger
From: Superintendent Thomas Conrad
September 12, 2016
I want to update you on any information or talk you might of heard about the merger of the Brewster Elementary Schools. This past June, the Brewster Elementary School Committee learned that the final payment on the loan to the state for the Eddy School had been made. The state indicated “there are no MSBA restrictions placed upon the future use of the school.” The Board of Selectmen asked the Brewster School Committee for the short and long term plans for the elementary schools.
The School Committee anticipates a complete and thoughtful review will take a couple of years and will focus on the educational program needed for years to come. This process will include teachers, administrators, staff members, parents and the community at large. On Thursday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m., the Brewster School Committee will begin the development of an action plan to research and evaluate the educational program in the Town of Brewster. The Brewster School Committee is committed to a process that is transparent, strategic and thoughtful for all.
Any decision regarding the possible merger of the two schools will be based upon what is in the best educational interest for the children of Brewster.
