Music Memory is part of the General Music curriculum in grades 4 and 5.
Students study 16 selections from prominent composers of orchestral, vocal, choral, keyboard and jazz music. It is a nationally-recognized program to give students a life-long gift of love for music. They will experience music from five major historical periods - Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary.
At the end of the year, teams are chosen and we travel to hear the Cape Cod Symphony play very short excerpts from each piece learned over the year. Students have 30 seconds to "name that tune"! Everyone in the audience plays along as well. It is the most fun we've ever had teaching classical music! Ask your student each week about the composer we are studying.
