    9/18, Weekly High School Update

Thank you to everyone in our community for your collective efforts this week. Students, families, teachers and staff have all stepped up to the challenge. Over the coming weeks we will be gathering input from everyone to understand what is working, what is not working, and how we can improve. Here are the updates for everyone.

    School Ventilation
Progress continues with the ventilation. The gym floors and the cafeteria are now available to us. “A”  Building has motors on order and will be installed upon delivery.  Air tests will be conducted when motors are replaced in individual classrooms.  Assessments have been completed in “E” Building, and those repairs are underway. Once repairs are completed, the air will be tested in all “E” Building classrooms. The Library has been assessed and materials are being ordered and repairs scheduled. The process we are following for each building and classroom goes as follows: assessment of the system, diagnosis of necessary repairs, repairs, testing of air quality.

Reminder:  At the last Regional School Committee Meeting, Superintendent Tom Conrad announced October 15th as the current target date for having the building ready for our hybrid model. Questions about this process and our progress can be directed to our Facility Manager, Anthony Nannini at nanninia@nausetschools.org.

    Attendance
If students are unable to attend class remotely or in person families are expected to call Chrissy LaBranche at 508-619-5210.

Today we honor the lives of those we lost on September 11, 2001. Nineteen years ago our country was attacked in a way we could have never imagined, and our nation responded by joining together in a united effort to heal. Remembering this tragedy is a way we can continue to care for those who were directly impacted.

    School Ventilation
N Building has been repaired, and the air in each classroom has been tested and approved. This will enable us to serve those students with complex needs who are in our five-day on campus cohort. Our A building (English and history classes) is currently being assessed and repairs are being made. Once repairs are complete, each classroom will be tested for air quality. The process we are following for each building goes as follows: assessment of the system, diagnosis of necessary repairs, repairs, testing of air quality.

Thursday night at the Regional School Committee, Superintendent Tom Conrad announced October 15th as the current target date for having the building ready for our hybrid model. We will keep you updated on the progress of the work and the efforts to meet that date. Questions about this process can be directed to our Facility Manager, Anthony Nannini at nanninia@nausetschools.org.

    Student Schedules
At this point students should have access to their schedules.  If you have not yet viewed your schedule, please log onto x2/aspen and view it this weekend.  If you cannot access X2/Aspen for whatever reason (disabled/expired message) please contact Krystal Adams (adamsk@nausetschools.org) for assistance.

If, after viewing your schedule, you encounter any issues - a missing course, an unscheduled block, or a specific course that is not on your schedule -  please contact your guidance counselor directly via email ASAP.  Please be aware that for a variety of reasons, which include the need to keep numbers at a certain level due to social distancing guidelines, schedule changes will be minimal and only made for limited reasons.  If you have any questions please contact your guidance counselor.

    In-Person Ipad and Book Distribution:
We have converted the gym into a school store for the distribution of Ipads and books. Students will receive a hard copy of their schedules before entering into the school store, and will move from one department table to the next to collect their books. Teachers and staff will be available for guidance. Here are the times when students can collect their books and ipads:

    • Monday 9/14, 10:00-3:00
    • Tuesday 9/15, 10:00-3:00
    • Wednesday 9/16, 1:00 -3:00 (11th & 12th Grades Only)
    • Thursday 9/17, 1:00-3:00 (9th & 10th Grades Only)

Anyone who is unable to make it to the school store during those hours is asked to contact Assistant Principal, Sean Fleming, to arrange for a time that is convenient. Questions regarding book and ipad collection can also be directed to Sean Fleming at flemings@nausetschools.org.

Schedule for the First Two Days of School:
Students will be receiving an email from each of their teachers inviting them to join their google classrooms. • High School Weekly Update

Posted by Chris Ellsasser on 9/4/2020

    Happy Friday Everyone,

I hope everyone is planning for a long and relaxing weekend. This year we will be sending out a weekly update with school-related news and information. As part of our review of the feedback from everyone last year, we learned that the best communication is the most direct. We know that everyone is busy and that you need “just the facts” delivered to you in an easy to read format on a regular basis. Here is this week’s update.

    School Ventilation

We continue to work on the repair of our ventilation. N Building is close to being fully operational. The next step will be to test the air in all N Building classrooms. Our hope is to have N Building available for students who have been identified as high need for in-person instruction. The next building scheduled for repairs is our A Building. Questions about this process can be directed to our Facility Manager, Anthony Nannini at nanninia@nausetschools.org

    Student Schedules

Everyone should have received a message through Parent Square yesterday from our Guidance Office stating that schedules are now available and ready for review. Students with any questions are directed to contact their guidance counselors. Any requested and approved changes will appear in the student’s schedule the following day. Anyone who did not receive the message or who needs any assistance accessing their schedules should contact the Guidance Office Assistant, Krystal Adams at adamsk@nausetschools.org.

    iPad and Book Distribution

iPads and books will be distributed starting Monday, September 14th and Tuesday, September 15th. We are in the process of putting together bundles of books and school materials for students based on their schedules. Students will be invited to come to school to collect their materials. Any questions regarding book and iPad collection can be directed to Assistant Principal, Sean Fleming at flemings@nausetschools.org.

First Day of School, Wednesday, September 16th

We begin school on Wednesday, September 16th at 8:35 and end at 2:57. Students will meet with all of their classes for a shorter period of time on Wednesday and attend orientation assemblies. At the end of next week students will receive a schedule for the day and information about how to access assemblies and classes.

    Daily Class Schedule

In response to the shift to our remote model, we are adjusting our daily schedule so there is only one lunch period. Our regular schedule uses three different lunch periods to stagger the use of our cafeteria. In our remote model we are able to all have lunch at the same time. Any questions about our schedule, our year calendar, or school events can be directed to Assistant Principal Keith Kenyon at kenyonk@nausetschools.org

    Athletics

Athletics begin on Monday, September 21st.  Our Athletic Director, John Mattson will be sending everyone a more detailed memo about the sports being offered and the process for signing up to participate. Questions about athletics can be directed to John Mattson at mattsonj@nausetschools.org

    After School Programs

We are currently working on designing a schedule and spaces for clubs in the afternoon. In addition to clubs taking place on campus, we are also talking with student leadership about other ways we could support opportunities for students to come together on and off campus. Questions about afterschool programs can be directed to Assistant Principal, Keith Kenyon at kenyonk@nausetschools.org

    Feedback About Our Communication

If you have any thoughts about how we might improve our communication, please send your ideas to my assistant Wendy Spampinato at spampinatow@nausetschools.org.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend,

    Peace,
